Well its been a while as usual! In fact I just looked back and i've only made 2 posts thus far but I wanted to share with people my latest little achievement which is getting into Terrorizer! I managed to get Devastator sponsored by them a while ago and this week Paul and I did a Q&A about Devastator for their newsletter, which you can read below. Its not the magazine proper but hopefully that will come in time, I've been bogged down and worn out by my masters recently, so this was a nice break, something positive. As for my masters I have 2 months left to complete a dissertation and its all very daunting. We're just about to start the brain scanning part of the experiment so if anyone is free during the day for the next few weeks, can make it to York and would to see a picture of their brain then let me know!

So anyway here's the Q&A, it makes me cringe a bit but i'm still pleased I got the opportunity to do it.

MOSH'N'ROLL: TERRORIZER CLUBNIGHT OPENS IN LEEDS!

It's very rare that Terrorizer involves itself with clubnights and
the like, mainly because they turn out to be a bit naff. Devastator in
Leeds however is the exception, after eighteen months its proven
itself the true home of blasting brutality on the second and fourth
Saturday of each month in Rios. We thought it was high time that
organisers Sam and Paul told just what the funk was up!

How did you end up doing Devastator and how do you beat all the other
clubnights in Leeds?

Sam: "Devastator began with a drunken conversation between myself and
fellow DJ, Conan about how Leeds needed a decent extreme metal night.
Once sober it still seemed like a good idea! We got ourselves a night
at the Subculture nightclub and recruited Paul from Raw Nerve
Promotions to help us out and become the third DJ. Devastator grew in
popularity and we were offered a twice-monthly Saturday slot at Leeds
Rios, which is where we are now! Our popularity is due to being the
only night to exclusively play extreme metal - with a few flashes of
unexpected songs! But truly it's down to the loyal metal crowd in
Leeds, they're great!"

What tunes go down the best? Any surprises there?

Sam: "Anything by Decapitated! Nile 'Lashed To The Slave Stick,
Carcass 'Heartwork', Cannibal Corpse 'Hammer Smashed Face', Emperor
'Ye Entranceperium', Immortal 'Sons Of Northern Darkness', Deicide
'Once Upon The Cross' and Journey 'Don't Stop Believing' goes down
surprising well at the end of the night!"

Paul: "Calling card songs for me are Devourment 'Babykiller',
Necrophagist 'Fermented Offal Discharge', At The Gates 'Slaughter Of
The Soul', Carcass 'Heartwork', Korpiklaani 'Happy Little Boozer'. No
surprises. All great songs. It's fantastic to see silly slam dancing
to Devourment."

Leeds has a pretty strong scene, any local bands you think deserve
some love?

Sam: "Definitely, Paul's band Reth for starters. Solitary Mass,
Revokation, Noxious Coitus, Electric Mud Generator, Skull Branded
Pirates, Hog Island Boas, The Afternoon Gentleman, Executive
Distraction Tasks and Devastator regulars - Esclavage!"

When's your next Devastator and why should we go down?

"Next Devastator is Saturday July 12 featuring local acts Electric
Mud Generator, Root Khnem and Forged From Darkness plus special guest
DJ Traumahound from Stormblast Sheffield. People should come down for
the extreme metal tunes with request friendly DJs and the good
atmosphere. This Devastator is also dedicated to the memory of Sami,
who was a part of Leeds metal scene and sadly passed away recently."

Fear because they can be fairly incompetent at times. But also joy because there will be more perks for us - like they've given us 2 pairs of Vader tickets to give away at this Saturday's Devastator!

Anyway here's my plug for this Saturday's Devastator:

As well as Devastator, i'm also working on promoting next month's 10th birthday bash for Wendy House - where Glen has kindly granted us a metal room - so definitely looking forward to this one!

In amongst this I'm still working on my masters - but that's not as interesting so lets forget it!
